September 23, 2024 - I attended Philip Wicke(LMU, Munich)’s seminar “Exploring Spatial Intuitions and Analogical Reasoning in Large Language Models” organized by ABSTRACTION. [video]

September 20, 2024 - I attended prof.Tony Veale (UCD, Dublin)’s seminars “Why So Serious Building AIs with a Real Sense of Humour” [video] and “Me, Myself and Irony Exploring different facets of Irony with Analogies and LLMs” [video] organized by ABSTRACTION.

August 15th, 2024 - We organized 13th edition of the Workshop on Cognitive Modeling and Computational Linguistics (CMCL 2024) co-located with ACL 2024, Thanks to the other organizers Tatsuki Kuribayashi, Ece Takmaz, Philipp Wicke, Yohei Oseki. [proceedings]

August 11th, 2024 - I arrived in Bangkok for attending ACL2024! I will present two papers from ABSTRACTION project: “Can Large Language Models Interpret Noun-Noun Compounds? A Linguistically-Motivated Study on Lexicalized and Novel Compounds” at poster session 5 (August 13 @ 16:00) and “Quantifying Generalizations: Exploring the Divide Between Human and LLMs’ Sensitivity to Quantification” at poster session 6 (August 14 @ 10:30). See you there!

August 7th, 2024 - I was invited to give a talk “Word Specificity: A Measure to Investigate Semantic Abstraction and Linguistic Creativity” in the CBS Seminars at Hong Kong PolyU. Thank you for prof. Emmanuele Chersoni for inviting me and for the in-person and online attendees!

August 4th, 2024 - I had the opportunity to talk and hear about analogy by attending The First Workshop on Analogical Abstraction in Cognition, Perception, and Language (Analogy-ANGLE) (co-located with IJCAI 2024) in Jeju (South Korea). I presented two research dissemination papers: “Can Large Language Models Interpret Noun-Noun Compounds? A Linguistically-Motivated Study on Lexicalized and Novel Compounds” (accepted at ACL 2024!) and “Compositionality as an Analogical Process: Introducing ANNE” (presented at CogALex in 2022). Moreover, I had the honour to partecipate to a round table with the invited speakers. Lots of food for thoughts!

June 19th-21st, 2024 - I attended the Lectures on Computational Linguistics in Bary (Italy). As always, it was a great occasion to meet people from Italian (and international) CL and NLP community!

June 6th, 2024 - I presented my advances in the ABSTRACTION projet at Trinity Colledge (Dublin, Ireland). “Word Specificity: A Measure to Investigate Semantic Abstraction and Linguistic Creativity”

May 20th, 2024 – ABSTRACTION team goes to LREC-COLING 2024! We got 2 papers in the main conference. I’ll present the poster The Contextual Variability of English Nouns: The Impact of Categorical Specificity beyond Conceptual Concreteness on May, 22nd at 11am. Find the paper and related materials in Publications section

May 15th, 2024 – We got two papers accepted to the main conference of ACL 2024! Can Large Language Models Interpret Noun-Noun Compounds? A Linguistically-Motivated Study on Lexicalized and Novel Compounds (Rambelli, Chersoni, Collacciani, Bolognesi) and Quantifying Generalizations: Exploring the Divide Between Human and LLMs’ Sensitivity to Quantification (Collacciani, Rambelli, Bolognesi). See you in Bangkok!

May 13th-14th, 2024 – I followed online this amazing event: New Horizons in Language Science: Large Language Models, Language Structure, and the Cognitive and Neural Basis of Language. That was some great food for thought!

2023

December 1st, 2023 – Our paper got accepted at CliC-It 2023 (Venice, Italy)! I also presented two research communication papers as posters: Compositionality as an Analogical Process: Introducing ANNE (CogALex 2022) and Contextual Variability Depends on Categorical Specificity rather than Conceptual Concreteness: A Distributional Investigation on Italian data (IWCS 2023). Find out more in Publications section
